Summer is the perfect time for sunshine, splashy fun, and outdoor adventures! But did you know that electricity has superpowers, too? It helps keep our lights on, our food cold, and our favorite games and gadgets working.
Just like a superhero, electricity is amazing — but it also needs to be treated with respect.
Here are some easy ways to stay safe while having fun all summer long:
🌧️ Stay Away from Downed Power Lines
If you ever see a power line on the ground, never go near it. Even if it looks safe, it could still have electricity flowing through it.
Tell an adult right away.
Stay far away.
Never touch it or anything touching it.
💧 Water and Electricity Don’t Mix
Water is great for swimming and sprinklers—but not for electrical cords or outlets!
Remember:
Keep electronics away from pools and sprinklers.
Dry your hands before plugging anything in.
Never use electrical devices in or near water.
🪁 Fly Kites in Open Spaces
Kites love windy days, but they should stay far away from power lines.
Choose parks, big open fields, places with lots of room to fly safely
🔌 Give Outlets a Break
Electrical outlets are for plugs — not fingers, toys, pencils, or anything else.
Only adults should plug in or unplug electrical cords.
⚡ Watch the Weather
If you hear thunder or see lightning:
Head indoors right away.
Stay away from windows.
Wait until the storm is over before going back outside.
Become an Electricity Safety Champion!
You can be a safety hero by remembering these simple rules:
✅ Stay away from power lines.
✅ Keep water away from electricity.
✅ Fly kites in open spaces.
✅ Let adults handle electrical plugs.
✅ Go inside during thunderstorms.
Have an Awesome—and Safe—Summer!
Summer is all about making memories, exploring outside, and having fun with family and friends. By respecting electricity and following these easy safety tips, you can enjoy every sunny adventure with confidence.
Stay safe, have fun, and let your summer adventures shine! ☀️⚡
